Shrinkage

This is just an example of how much porcelain (Laguna Babu in this case) shrinks during the glaze firing.

The two images below are of the same two pots. The right pot is shown after glaze firing in the left image and before glaze firing in the right image. The right pot in the right image had already been bisque fired. It was a fair amount bigger still when freshly thrown.

These are pretty big cups - the left cup is 32 oz and the right is 31 oz. So, if you want a big cup, you have to throw a really big cup.
